Learn about the different types of EVs
The ABCs of EVs: Technology Overview
Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV)
For drivers who want an electric-only mode, but occasionally drive long distances and still need the option of gas to meet all of their driving needs, a PHEV may be the right option. PHEVs offer both gas-only and electric-only driving–even at high speeds.
Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV)
For drivers who want to achieve zero tailpipe emissions and have access to the full benefits of driving electric, a BEV may be the right option. Fueling a BEV entirely from electricity means low and stable fueling costs as well as reduced maintenance. With no internal combustion engine there are no more oil changes, belt replacements, or new spark plugs.
